Review: Andaz Delhi – Aerocity Style & Incredible Hyatt Value

During a recent trip to Delhi to visit friends and family, we spent two nights at the Andaz Delhi with our young son. Located conveniently in the Aerocity district near the airport – a location we found to be great – this hotel had been on my radar as a potentially high-value use of World of Hyatt points.

I booked our stay for just 6,500 World of Hyatt points per night, leveraging the off-peak Category 2 pricing for our room. It’s honestly hard to believe that this modern, 5-star luxury hotel is only a Category 2 property, making it an incredible deal on points. The value felt even more pronounced when, upon arrival (as a Globalist member), we were upgraded to a spacious Andaz Large Suite King which had cash rates exceeding $500 per night during our stay!

Our overall impression of the hotel was amazing. It masterfully blends the grand scale and amenities you’d expect from a 5-star hotel with the unique design, boutique atmosphere, and slightly informal yet attentive service that characterizes the Andaz brand. This review will delve into the details of our stay, from the fantastic redemption value to the room, dining, and amenities.

The Redemption: Incredible Category 2 Value

The Andaz Delhi is classified as a World of Hyatt Category 2 property. This is fantastic news for points enthusiasts, as Category 2 hotels require a relatively modest number of points for a standard room:

  • 6,500 points per night (Off-Peak)
  • 8,000 points per night (Standard)
  • 9,500 points per night (Peak)

We were fortunate that our travel dates fell during an Off-Peak period, allowing us to book our one room for two nights at just 6,500 points per night, totaling 13,000 points for the stay. I easily transferred points over to my World of Hyatt account from my Bilt Rewards account to make the booking.

The value here was already excellent even before considering any upgrades. Cash rates for a standard room during our stay were around $250 USD per night (plus taxes).

  • Total Points Used: 13,000 points for one room for two nights.
  • Equivalent Standard Room Cash Cost: ~$250/night * 2 nights ≈ $500 USD
  • Base Redemption Value: $500 / 13,000 points ≈ 3.8 cents per point.

Achieving over 2 cents per point is generally considered great value for Hyatt points. However, this fantastic base value became even more incredible thanks to our Globalist upgrade to the Andaz Large Suite King, a room category commanding around $500 USD per night!

Check-in & Globalist Recognition

Our arrival and check-in process at the Andaz Delhi was refreshingly smooth and quick. The hotel concierge efficiently took care of our luggage upon arrival, ensuring it was promptly delivered straight to our room, which is always helpful when traveling with family.

As a Hyatt Globalist member, the elite recognition was excellent and proactive. Without even having to ask, we were informed at check-in that we had been automatically upgraded to the Andaz Large Suite King. This seamless upgrade to a high-value suite truly makes Globalist status feel worthwhile and set a positive tone right from the start.

The Room: Upgrade to an Andaz Large Suite King

Andaz Delhi Large Suite Living Room

The proactive Globalist upgrade to an Andaz Large Suite King was a game-changer for our 2-night family stay. This wasn’t just a slightly larger room; it was a true multi-room suite that felt incredibly spacious and well-designed.

The suite featured:

  • A separate living room with comfortable seating.
  • A distinct dining area, perfect for enjoying in-room snacks or a coffee.
  • A convenient half bath (powder room) accessible from the living area.

True to the Andaz brand, the minibar was stocked with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, which were replenished daily. In addition to this, the Globalist welcome amenity of extra snacks and a personalized note from the hotel management was also present in the room, making us feel very welcome.

The bedroom itself was generously sized, featuring a plush king bed and a large, wall-to-wall counter that also housed a TV.

However, the undisputed show-stealer of this suite was the bathroom. It was, by far, the largest hotel bathroom I’ve personally experienced! It boasted:

  • A double vanity with plenty of space.
  • A luxurious soaking tub complete with its own TV.
  • A separate toilet room for privacy.
  • A massive shower room (easily the size of many full hotel bathrooms elsewhere) equipped with both an overhead rain shower and a handheld shower wand.

To complete this incredible bathroom space, the other side featured a large closet area, perfect for storing all our luggage, clothes, and other belongings, keeping the rest of the suite tidy. The Andaz Large Suite King was an outstanding upgrade that provided exceptional comfort and luxury for our family of three.

Dining & Globalist Perks

While Andaz properties typically don’t feature traditional “Club Lounges” like some other Hyatt brands, the Andaz Delhi offered fantastic dining perks for Globalist members, starting with a delightful evening reception and continuing with an excellent breakfast for our family.

Globalist Evening Reception

Andaz Delhi Review
Andaz Delhi Globalist Happy Hour

From 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM daily, the hotel hosted a complimentary evening reception for Globalists in what appeared to be a dedicated, separate room set up specifically for this purpose. This was a fantastic offering.

The food spread was excellent and far exceeded typical “happy hour” snacks:

  • Hot Dishes: Freshly prepared items like flavourful kebabs and paneer tikkas were a highlight.
  • Stations: There was also a salad station, a soup station, and even a fun make-your-own-tacos station.
  • Beverages: A selection of complimentary alcoholic beverages (and non-alcoholic, of course) was available.

For the average person, the variety and quantity of food offered here would easily be substantial enough to serve as dinner. It was a really impressive and valuable perk, greatly enhancing our stay.

Breakfast at AnnaMaya

Breakfast at AnnaMaya

As a Globalist member, breakfast for our family was complimentary and served at AnnaMaya, the hotel’s vibrant all-day dining venue. While it wasn’t quite as overwhelmingly massive as the breakfast spread we had experienced at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai a few days prior, the offering at AnnaMaya was still quite large and of high quality.

Breakfast at the Andaz Delhi AnnaMaya

The buffet featured a great selection of both Continental and Indian classics. There were several live cooking stations bustling with activity, preparing fresh omelettes, dosas, parathas, and pancakes to order. A unique and welcome touch was the fresh juice counter, which also offered turmeric-powered daily immunity shots – a thoughtful addition.

Overall, it was a fantastic breakfast experience, with plenty of variety and fresh options, living up to the high standards expected from both a five-star hotel in India and the Andaz brand as a whole.

Location: Delhi Aerocity

View from our bedroom

The Andaz Delhi is situated in the Aerocity district, a modern hospitality and commercial hub located very close to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). We found the Aerocity area itself to be really nice to walk around and explore. It’s well-maintained and offers a good selection of dining and shopping options within easy reach, making it a convenient and pleasant base, especially if you need to be near the airport or prefer a more contemporary neighborhood feel.

Hotel Amenities (Pool, Gym, Spa & More)

The Pool at the Andaz Delhi

The Andaz Delhi offers the standard range of amenities expected from a luxury hotel:

  • Pool: The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, which looked like a pretty standard and pleasant space. However, as we were visiting during the winter, we found that the pool didn’t seem to be temperature-controlled and was unfortunately too cold to swim in comfortably. This is something to keep in mind if pool use is a priority during colder months.
  • Gym & Spa: There is a gym and the Andaz Spa on-site. Unfortunately, due to our short stay and packed schedule visiting friends and family, we didn’t get a chance to explore or use these facilities on this particular visit.

Service: Welcoming and Distinctly Andaz

Throughout our stay at the Andaz Delhi, the service was overall great. Staff members all around the hotel were consistently friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile or assistance when needed.

True to the Andaz brand ethos, the service style struck a pleasant balance: it was thoroughly professional yet maintained a slightly informal, approachable feel. This is what significantly contributed to the hotel feeling more like an upscale boutique property, despite its large, five-star scale. This less rigid style of service added to the overall comfortable and modern atmosphere of the hotel.

The Bottom Line: An Aerocity Gem with Fantastic Hyatt Value

Our two-night family stay at the Andaz Delhi was, without a doubt, an absolute fantastic experience and stands out as one of the best-value uses of World of Hyatt points we’ve encountered.

It was great value for points, redeeming just 6,500 points per night for a room that cost much more if paying cash. The Globalist recognition was truly exceptional, from the generous upgrade to an Andaz Large Suite King (which would typically cost around $500/night) to the thoughtful welcome amenities, the impressive evening reception, and the fantastic breakfast at AnnaMaya for our family.

The hotel perfectly embodies the Andaz brand ethos, offering a refreshing blend of grand, modern luxury with the design-forward, slightly informal, and personalized service of a boutique hotel.

The Aerocity location was convenient for our needs, offering a pleasant and walkable environment with good dining and shopping options nearby.

The only minor point to note was that the outdoor pool, while standard, was not temperature-controlled and thus too cold for use during our winter visit.

Despite this small detail, our overall impression of the Andaz Delhi is overwhelmingly positive. For its exceptional points value, stunning suite upgrade, chic design, excellent food and beverage offerings for Globalists, and great service, I wholeheartedly recommend the Andaz Delhi. It’s a true gem in the Hyatt portfolio, especially for those looking for a modern, upscale stay in the Aerocity area or an incredible points redemption. We would certainly be thrilled to return.
